Kindergarden and 1st grade Music
In music, the students are learning steady beat through a variety of activities such as: dancing, body percussion and singing. "Put on a Happy Face" is their song to perform for the spring musical. 2nd grade Music
2nd graders are singing and dancing to songs like "Kids"(which is our BYE BYE BIRDIE song) and singing liturgical songs. They are working on body percussion and will be transferring their ear training skills to percussion intruments. They are learning to read note values and are playing on soprano glockenspiels. They have studied Opera, composers such as Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky. » read more...

3rd grade Music
In music, 3rd graders are learning to: write music notation, starting with note values, read melodic direction through solfege and are singing liturgical and popular songs. They are singing "Kids" for our spring musical and are playing on the Yamaha keyboards. » read more...

4th grade music
4th graders have started Recorder Karate and should be practicing daily. I encourage them to keep their recorders clean and in a case when put into their backpacks. The soprano recorders should be available for purchase at the music store on Broadway. Their song to perform for the spring musical is "Hymn for a Sunday Evening" (Ed Sullivan song). Students need to record their music homework (which I write on the homework board) in their planners. They are singing popular songs as well as liturgical songs. » read more...

5th grade music
Students are learning to read complicated jazz rhythms on their soprano recorders. Students should record their music homework in their planners, which I write on the homework board. If you need to purchase a soprano recorder, they should be available at the music store on Broadway. Their song for the spring musical is "A Healthy, Normal American Boy". Students have been singing popular songs in addition to liturgical songs. Thanks to a generous donation to the music department, students will be playing on the Yamaha keyboards. » read more...

6th graders are playing on the Yamaha keyboards in the music room. They are reading music as well as exploring voices and styles. They are singing liturgical and popular songs. In addition, they are learning to chord on the soprano ukuleles. » read more...

In music class, the students are playing songs on the Yamaha keyboards in the music room. The book that we use is Alfred's Adult Piano Book Level 1. They are learning to read music and explore different styles and voices. Learning to play in different positions and chords in both hands is a continued focus. Singing liturgical songs is continued as well as singing while playing the ukulules. » read more...

Keyboard Elective
Students will be learning to be creative on the Yamaha keyboards. Students will be recording, arranging and improvising on the keyboards. Each student needs to bring their creativity and the elective takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays. » read more...
