Kindergarten will finish the year reviewing and adding to existing vocabulary. We will review numbers and colors while adding shapes, clothes and more adjectives. Kinders have played "Simón Dice" (Simon Says), but we will move into using TPR as a listening and vocabulary building exercise. TPR stands for Total Physical Response. The teacher uses commands to teach vocabulary. Students demonstrate understanding of the commands through body movement. For example, the teacher might say, "Salta tres veces." Students would show they understand the command by jumping three times. » read more...

First grade will focus on feelings, shapes and family for the remainder of the year. Students are reviewing body parts and basic verbs through TPR. In addition, we will record songs we learn that I will be able to share with other classes in the future. » read more...

In Spanish this year students have learned how to talk about things that they like and do not like to do, how to talk about the date, months and seasons of the year, animals, and basic characteristic adjectives. Students will finish the year learning numbers to 50, tell basic time (On the hour). We will also learn about family and weather through songs and projects. » read more...

Students have started working in their Workbooks, and we are finishing up talking about ¿Cómo soy? We will add talking about ¿Cómo eres? (what are you like) and ¿Cómo es? (What is he/she like? Students will learn the conjugations of ser, and keep working with conjugations of AR verbs. Sixth grade will finish the year learning about school vocabulary and ordinal numbers. The eighth grade is starting the third trimester learning about ordering food. We will learn additional food vocabulary next, as well as how to conjugate the verbs tener, preferir and other irregular or stem changing er/ir verbs. We will end the year making piñatas for El cinco de mayo, and then review vocabulary to prepare them for an easy transistion to Spanish in high school. » read more...
