studentStudent Emergency Bags - Always Best To Be Prepared
In the event of a disaster such as an earthquake, the likelihood of many children spending an extended amount of time at school waiting for a responsible adult to pick them up increases dramatically. This is the reality due to the number of parents working out of the area who may experience difficulty and delays in returning home or reaching the school. The faculty is aware of the responsibility we share in this matter – it continues to be an item of on-going discussion and preparation.

As a step in preparing for a disaster, we request that families provide individual emergency packages for each child. This package will be stored at school until the end of the school year.

We expect to be able to provide adequate care for children following a major disaster, if each child has the items listed below in their emergency package:

Emergency Bag Contents
One only reassuring note with special instructions in an envelope with child’s name on the outside:
1 Family photo
1 3x5 card with parent phone number, cell number, emergency number of relative or friend
And name and phone number of person designated to pick up child in case parent is unavailable.
1 6 ounce CAN of juice (not boxed juice please)
1 6 or 8 ounce bottle of water
2 Canned fruit cups and 2 plastic spoons
3 Granola or fruit snack bars
2 Small packages of crackers
3-4 Moist towelettes
1 Nylon blanket
Emergency supply of medication, which is administered regularly

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ITEMS WILL NOT BE RFRIGERATED

This emergency package is a crucial element in the preparation for a disaster. It will supply basic needs and provide comfort for children in a frightening situation.

Thank you for your cooperation in this important project.
